Mission

Movin’ With The Spirit, Inc. is a not-for-profit Catholic ministry dedicated to renewing the Church and society as a whole by proclaiming God’s eternal Truth and love for all. Through conferences, concerts, retreats, and educational materials, we use personal witness to motivate every person to become the irreplaceable, unique member of the Body of Christ that God has always called them to be.

Vision

Founded by national speaker, performing artist, and youth minister Sean Forrest, Movin’ With The Spirit exists to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ in accord with our Lord’s commission to “Go and make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19). Our mission is led by the Second Vatican Council’s vision of the Church as an evangelizing communion, and by Pope John Paul II’s call for a new evangelization in the third millennium.

With the words of James 2:27, ”Faith without works is dead,” as our guide, Movin’ With The Spirit seeks to fulfill its mission through faith in action. We aim to use the gifts that God has given each of us…

✤To reach out to people and help break down the walls that have been built up by the world;
✤To inspire people to meet Jesus where they are and be open to trusting in God’s plan for them;
✤To grow in our own faith in order to share it with our families and teach it to others; and
✤To build a fiscally-responsible organization that will enable us to support the needs of others.

Our ministry undertakes this mission through three fundamental areas of outreach: personal appearances, spiritual support, and the development of educational/evangelization tools.

It is our hope and prayer that all who come into contact with our various ministries will find themselves better able to live St. Paul’s exhortation: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your minds, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:2).

History

Movin’ With The Spirit, Inc. (MWTS) was founded by Sean Forrest, a national speaker, musician, author, and youth minister from Connecticut whose passion for the Catholic faith and tell-it-like-it-is style sets the tone for the entire ministry. A songwriter from an early age, Sean always had a love for Jesus, but got distracted by the world, immersing himself in the secular party scene and all things worldly. As a well-known, highly-paid performer, he “had it all” by society’s standards, but was headed down a path of destruction – and doing a great job dragging plenty of folks with him! But God had other plans for Sean. He put faith-filled loved ones, physically disabled children, and a strange illness in Sean’s path to lead him to a profound conversion to the Catholic faith and deep commitment to spread the Word of the Gospel.

With a simple mailing of handwritten flyers, Sean Forrest youth retreats and Movin’ With The Spirit were born – and God took the reins. This ground-breaking youth ministry – anchored by heartfelt witnessing, music, and straight talk about real issues – is now booking two years in advance. Retreats are now complemented by major concert/conference appearances, at venues such as the Steubenville youth conferences, World Youth Day, the Inside Out Soul Festival, Proud2BCatholic, the Creation Festival, and a variety of diocesan youth and adult conferences. Sean’s music and message attract listeners of all ages, as he speaks and performs before nearly 30 thousand people annually.

After recording his fourth album, he was led to make a pivotal decision about the distribution of his music and books when he gave a free CD to a teenage girl at one of his concerts. In God’s perfect timing, that girl – just hours away from attempting to commit suicide – listened to the CD until morning and got the help she needed to save her life. Today, the Lord continues to work miracles, having united the lives of a core group of individuals to expand this ministry in exciting new directions. But Movin’ With The Spirit is so much more than the number of conference talks given or the number of CDs that go out the door. More than the amount of money raised for the poor or the amount of daily hits on the website. For this ministry’s greatest accomplishment is – and always will be – that, through the work of its members, hearts have been opened to faith and God’s Truth.
